Audience classification.
My target audience will probably be those of a social grade between C1 and E. This is because the storyline will appeal to those who are of working class, Lower middle class makes up the bulk of the population so by targeting this group it means that there will be a higher audience rating. However the animation should appeal to children under the age of 10 because of the block colours and themes.
Risk assessment.
As the animation will be filmed in a classroom the surroundings will be fairly safe as it is in a college. However I have highlighted a few safety risks and written about how I plan to combat the issues.
Format potential and technical limitations.
After having a practice go and working with the plasticine I found that it didn't go quite as planned and that I would need to edit and simplify my storyboard.
I think that my set worked well as a backdrop, this is because it was simple block colours that ensured the focus was left to the characters. The space that I used was enough and kept the characters together. The tree however needs work, I like the positioning as it means that it's not too in the way and allows for the scene to be set- so the audience know that it's set in a safari. Even though that went well I think that the tree itself needs work, I'm not happy with the shape of it as I think it doesn't work in a safari setting, it looks like a British tree in winter. I decided to use the silhouette of a tree, this provides an effective imagery and could work with the typical image of a safari view; a tree with a sunset in the background.
I think that working with the plasticine gave me a realistic expectation on what to expect when it comes to the proper animation. The creature shapes worked well and were of a good size, I liked the colours used too. However I think that for the lion I will create a bigger character- so that it looks bigger and there is more of a difference between the mouse and lion in terms of size. To improve and make it even better I will need to be even more careful when moving the characters, this is because when I moved my main piece the legs started cracking and became weak and hard to keep attached to the main body of plasticine- to combat this issue I will be using wire in the legs, so that it becomes easier to move and should hopefully not fall apart.
I also had difficulty getting the pieces to stay in position, this was because of the odd weighting and lack of grip on the floor. It became an issue when I would move a piece and the piece would just fall back into the same position or just a totally different position. To combat this I created a floor out of plasticine, this way the characters could be planted in it and use it to stand on.
I was also acting too quick when taking the shots, you can see my fingers in a few of them and that is because I was acting too quick when taking the shots. When it comes to the main recording I will be taking my time with it, which should hopefully erase any chance of my appendages being captured on frame.

I redid my storyboard after experimenting with some plasticine and discovering that my original idea may come at a bit of a stretch. This storyboard shows a simplified set design. Although I will be creating two sets to show that there is a time difference between the first four shots and the rest of the animation. I still intend to use plasticine however I think I will create a few multiple characters that look the same so that if there is a breakage of one then it wont matter as there will be a spare.
I think this is my final storyboard although there is a chance the script will change.
